Cloudflare Workers and D1 Application Development

My Cloudflare application work is centered on Rungset, a web-first workspace deployed to Cloudflare Workers with Cloudflare D1, Drizzle ORM, and OpenNext. This project connected the Next.js application, authenticated product features, and relational data to an edge-hosted runtime.

At a glance

  • Rungset is deployed to Cloudflare Workers through OpenNext.
  • Cloudflare D1 stores user-owned application records queried through Drizzle ORM.
  • The same hosted workspace serves the browser product and Android application.

A production application on the edge

Rungset is a Next.js application deployed to Cloudflare Workers using OpenNext. Its product interface, API behavior, authentication, and database access need to operate within the chosen runtime, so deployment constraints are part of the application design.

Cloudflare D1 stores the application's user-owned records, and Drizzle ORM defines schemas and queries for the product entities. The setup supports goals, milestones, tasks, notes, and weekly check-ins in a single hosted workspace.

Runtime and data boundaries

Running a full-stack framework on an edge platform requires checking adapter behavior and the compatibility of server dependencies. I use explicit data-access and authentication boundaries so product routes remain understandable and user-scoped operations stay on the server.

The deployment serves the browser app and the Android app's hosted workspace. The source is open under AGPLv3, with JSON export and a self-hosting path, so deployment and data portability are part of the product rather than hidden implementation details.
